I listened to Les's folk show faithfully--heard many iconic recordings there first. One thing I enjoyed was that when he found an album he particularly liked (Simon & Garfunkel's "Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme," for instance) he would play the whole thing start to finish, and do his station identification at the half-hour in a whisper so as not to mar your listening enjoyment. It was his show that introduced me to so many great artists such as Ian & Sylvia and John Hammond, and then I would catch them live at clubs such as The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach or The Troubadour in Hollywood. A few years later I started doing my own folk show on KTBT in Garden Grove, much influenced by Les's show.
