My introduction to Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder goes back to 1968. is my on-ramp to a musical life (Guitar, Songwriting). Turns out that Ry Cooder was also a graduate of Santa Monica HS (1964). I graduated in 1970.   Their collaboration on a tribute album to Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry is a shout out to the root music we enjoy talking about on the Mudcat - Oh - What a Beautiful City
