I'll bite (as aforethreatened) ....

MRS FISHER
Derek Brimstone

She's closed her eyes just for a while
and mem'ries come calling into her mind
Poor Mrs Fisher, tired and weary,
sits by the fireside, the long day behind

Now she's all cosy, dozy and dreaming
and the jumper she's knitting falls from her hand
And from the wall a picture looks down
a gentle face, a smiling man

Ah yes the picture smiles down from the wall.

What are you dreaming, poor Mrs Fisher,
and what do you whisper, and why do you smile?
She shares her dream with the man in the picture
happy together, just for a while

And once again, they scheme and plan
the laughing girl with the smiling man
And it's ten years ago on the holiday seashore
walking beside her, holding her hand

While the picture smiles down from the wall.

Now safely upstairs young children are sleeping
and they dream where they're going and they dream where they've been
And in a drawer of the dressing-room table
there's a small brown case all lined with green

And in the case in the drawer in the bedroom
there's another picture of the smiling man,
Another picture of a place in Naples,
two shiny medals, and a telegram

While the picture smiles down from the wall.

And all down the years her dream's been the same
and every evening they meet once again
She tells him all that's happened today
the smiling man who lies far away

She's closed her eyes just for a while
and mem'ries come calling into her mind
Poor Mrs Fisher, tired and weary,
sleep by the fireside, the long day behind

While the picture smiles down from the wall.

NB: This is as I sang it last night at the Singaround; differences from your version above, of which only one or two seem signifiant, are in italics. I originally transcribed it from a sampler LP, but I can't go back yet to check it, as our record machine hasn't been set up properly yet (we only moved here 16 years ago).

Hope this helps.
