Guest seems to be making the same mistake as producers of pop CDs. Half the point of the CD is that it gives a greatly increased dynamic range compared to the LP, without having to use as much compression to raise the quiet bits above the noise floor. Sadly, pop producers got into a loudness war AND TRIED TO OUTSHOUT ONE ANOTHER, by essentially putting the digital signal through a mincer JUST BECAUSE THEY COULD, and all bands ended up sounding like the same mincemeat with different brand names.

Happily the delusion seems to have abated somewhat since the Noughties, and bands can sound like themselves again (unless they wish not to). But I still find myself seeing "digitally remastered" on CD covers and misreading it as "digitally denatured".

.... If you really must punish your eardrums, use headphones. Just don't make my mistake of trying to sing along with it: if you can't hear yourself, you'll sing flat, which is even less neighbour-friendly.
