My opinion is that the conservative movement is sustained by a revenge mentality and motivation. They paint themselves as victims and demand revenge. Even if the revenge is for a lie that is proven false.
Revenge is trending in popular culture. Maybe a third of all our movies are revenge movies, maybe more.
Capital punishment is revenge motivated. Red States are moving toward firing squads again. They claim it is more humane.
I say tongue in cheek if revenge is the actual reason for execution, forget about banning cruel and inhumane punishment and go whole hog. Return to the truely biblical punishment, burning at the stake. Force all those involved to attend. The screams and fizzing and popping should be memorable for a lifetime. One can't unsee the sight or forget the smell.

Political revenge is possibly more ghastly and is on Trump and Bannon's lips already. Is it Ukraine's war or Putin's revenge? I would think Chernobyl would have been enough revenge for Russia.

So are we headed to more revenge politics or will we wise up?
Religion didn't seem to do the trick.
