Subject: RE: Obit: Judith Durham, The Seekers (1943-2022)
Well last night, in this lovely spell of weather that we are unaccustomed to, Mrs Steve and I, along with our best friend Celia, retired after our barbecue into the "festival tent" in our garden (It's actually a pop-up gazebo, complete with sides, that we bought from Argos years ago. It goes up every August, pinned down at each of its four legs with Tom Chambers bird table anchors against the Cornish breezes...) I set up my pair of UE Boom speakers for stereo, fired up Spotify on my phone, cracked open a bottle too many of a lovely red, and we spent many a long, tearful hour listening (and singing along tunelessly) to the Seekers' greatest hits (of which there are many). I don't need to name all those wonderful songs. But I decided that Morningtown Ride was my very favourite and that I'm having The Carnival Is Over at my funeral. Or at Mrs Steve's. I wouldn't dare to predict which of us might come first, in case she reads this thread...

I loved the Beatles most in the sixties, but the Seekers were always there too. Judith had a lovely voice and she was lovely woman. Hey, I'm filling up here...
