The best thing is to keep on reading about her. Be informed. She is at the head of a coalition, not the absolute leader. She is rowing back all the time on her previous extremist views. She will limit but not ban abortion, for example. She will not now try to take Italy out of the common currency. She is opposed to Putin and his depredations and has said so quite vehemently. She is saying a lot of things that her new political allies don't like her saying. Remember that almost all Italian administrations are short-lived.

Of course, a lot of this is talk and we needn't feel fooled. By her fruits shall we know her (we have no option, frankly). As for your duck, remember that there are many species thereof.
