From 1953 through 1987, people living or working at the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, were potentially exposed to contaminated drinking water. Contaminants including PCE (perchloroethylene), TCE (trichloroethylene), Benzene and Vinyl Chloride were found by the Federal Government to exceed the EPA’s maximum contamination levels by hundreds of times.

Exposure to these chemicals has been linked to severe illness and cancer, including:
