Another great one gone. Don was in addition to being a fine picker, entertainer and historian, a good fellow. He would greet everyone as if they were his closest friend. Don led the way for Mark Lee Gardner and me in saving the cowboy songs, especially Jack Thorp. He even endorsed our book, Jack Thorp's Songs of the Cowboys. For so many, this was the guy that personified the old cowboy song. And man, he could pick a guitar! Listen to him sing Coyotes at the end of the tribute above. That one always gets to me.
