Thread Name: neat non-folk CD's
Subject: neat non-folk old music CD's
My library just started buying CD's, and I stumbled across a really nice set called "Music From The New York Stage, 1890-1920" (Pavilion Records, 1993). It's three sets of three CD's each of original performances. They didn't remaster, just cleaned up the worst of the pops and hissing. Great stuff! I never knew that "all dressed up and nowhere to go" was a song! And you should hear the vamp to "You Made Me Love You". There are some romantic songs, but most of them are novelty songs. I haven't heard all the cd's so far, but I bet you that somebody could get together a set or two of high quality politically incorrect songs that could get the wrong audience chucking bricks at you. I love 'em, and I'm saving my pennies to get 'em.
