Mom had UC and arthritis from her early years; She was in and out of hospital several times when I was in primary school -- not good for a growing lad, and not too good for Mom either. She's pretty fit these days, at seventy, but has to stay within panicking distance of a loo when she's out. My bets wishes and (non-patronising!) sympathy to you sufferers.
