You're just ahead of me - I looked at this article yesterday about the Koch money and didn't share it.

Koch network to back alternative to Trump after sitting out recent primaries

That money has always been behind anti-Democratic principles and candidates. I think they're big with the Federalist Society funding as well (think Supreme Court justices) - and they helped the Tea Party get off the ground.
