In 1949 music was changing, old folk tunes have been in new ways of the songs. Many groups know that's not a thing in music and they don't no what stealing music is all about. When the big part of the UK and US charts began one thing was the DJs' songs hearing these coming from the radio old 19th century songs new words being sung. One was Auld Lang Syne written by Robbie Burns. When the 1950s came around to songs went in to the charts with new words. They were called 'I went to your wedding' which was first recorded by Jimmy Ricks and the Five Redcaps - a better remembered cover of the song was a better hit for Patty Page. in 1952 this song has been covered many times in that year and still folks sing it through the decades. 2 years after folk songs from the 19th century had new words to the Auld Lang Sine tune, this was called 'I understand just how you feel'. This was first recorded by the Four Tunes and made number 11 in the US pop charts but a better known recording by June Valley did better. This song has also been covered many times over the years. This goes to show that that tunes of 19th century prefigure other songs that were hits in the 50s was Aura Lea that Elvis had a big hit in 1956 with 'love me tender'. just a few years ago I went to the Captains ?Bar and made a medley of the same tune singing the first line of Aura Lea and all the folks thought it was funny. Being a reviewer of songs i have done one 1950s songs as well.
