It's a fight lost, a bit like disinterested/uninterested. With "practice," the yanks have it right. Everything is "practice," and why not. But we have "practice" and "practise." Huge numbers of Brits get them wrong. So why bloody bother. If confusion is the order of the day, take the simple path.
