Thread Name: Lyr Add: Blues in the Bottle (Prince Albert Hunt)
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blues in the Bottle (Prince Albert Hunt)
"the first one?"

A version of the "blues in the bottle" verse appeared in 1920 in "Stingaree Blues" by the black Texas songwriter Clinton A. Kemp, published by the Handy Bros. Music Co. in New York. It was recorded by e.g. Esther Bigeou, in 1921. It includes "stoppers in my hand, sweet mama," and Hunt sings "stopper," not "trouble."

The rest of the verses Hunt got somewhere else. Researcher Newman White had collected "Going to the racetrack to see my pony run/If I win any money going to give Caldonia some" by 1916.
