.... or (as rumour had it when I was young and gullible) they may tick the first box in the first column, the second in the second, and so on diagonally down the ballot paper till they ran out of columns to tick, just to be seen to Do Their Duty and be out of the polling booth. This was alleged to yield candidates being chosen for having names as early as possible in the alphabet. Or is someone about to say "Bazinga"?
