It could be worse: rape seed oil has a distinct and repulsive aftertaste, but happens to be cheaper. It used to only be rated fit for use as industrial lubricant, and as far as I'm concerned it should never have been cleared for human consumption. I love mushrooms (to the point that Herself accuses me of being a hobbit), but I positively refuse to eat mushrooms fried in machine oil.
