I must apologise for my last posting. I have just consulted my Penguin book of Folk Songs from Scotland and it is indeed "Donald" and not "Johnny" who has lost his trousers....see how easy it is to change a whole nations anthem with just a slip of the memory....Thanks for the correction Mr MacLeod.

This could lead to all sorts of problems this memory lapse...we could end up with "Bristol Races" or "Moon spangled Banner"...frightenin'...
