Thread Name: When was the last folk music revival?
Subject: RE: When was the last folk music revival?
My group Braveheart was good at the time of bringing old songs to the attention of folks who liked the music a lot but the compere my mate from school Martin went to England. The songs that he and I did were great like the Scots songs like The Lass o Fyvie O and other Scots songs. The 1950s and 60s folk revival did make us do some songs like Donald Where's Yer Troosers by Andy Stewart and others by him. Now being a reviewer of those songs I find that the talking sound talks about the composers from the 19th century to now. One song that became remembered wasLove Me Tender by Ken Darby and Vera Maxwell. The first time Braveheart had gone I did roots and folk discovery looking at my record collection and one song was Aura Lee a 1935 recording by the Shelton brothers. When I sing songs i go to the Captains bar which I bring back all the old singers like Woody Guthrie Pete Seeger and others when I perform. We used to record out sets on DVD. One of my staff Kieron sings and writes his own songs based on the late 60s folk and rock that launched a now sound in music. Thank you very much from Joe
