Only tangentially related, but I was just listening to J. E. Mainer's "My Baby's Got Money All the Time" (track can be heard via a download from here) and the tune is more than a little similar, though only for parts. Given that Mainer's recording is widely believed to have been a graft of Charlie Poole's "If I Lose, Let Me Lose," it seems likely he either borrowed the tune just to make it a different song, or he (or his source) got the tunes mixed up.

Again, this does nothing to really further any research on the song, but I had this little "aha" moment and figured I'd share it with others.
