Thread Name: Any August Songs?
Subject: RE: Any August Songs?
The airship R-100 arrived in Saint-Hubert, Montreal in the early morning of August 1, 1930 after a voyage of almost 79 hours covering 3,364 miles (5,414 km). This was the first long-range international flight under the Imperial Airship Scheme.

The airship stayed there for 12 days with over 100,000 people visiting the airship each day. Nevil Shute, the senior stress engineer for R100, wrote that a song was composed by La Bolduc to make fun of the people's fascination with R100. Shute, Nevil (1954). TOUJOURS L'R 100 · La Bolduc
«Viens-tu avec moi son père, on va aller à Saint-Hubert
Va donc att’ler ta jument pis on va aller voir l’R-100
Mais regard-moi donc ti-Noir t’as mis ta ch’mise à l’envers
Il y a un trou dedans qu’est aussi grand que l’R-100.»
