An excellent book you would enjoy is "THE INDIANS BOOK: Songs and Legends of the American Indians" by Natalie Curtis...she collected many songs in the field and wrote them down by hand. The book has those as well as the actual words in the native language of the singer and her translation, as well as pictures and verbatim stories of those she met.
