IT ONLY SEEMS FIVE MINUTES SINCE LAST CHRISTMAS

Words & Music Graham & Bernadette Dixon (Trouble at’ Mill)

Am                                              G                         Am
Everybody knows that Christmas comes but once a year
                              Em                Am
As we approach the twilight of our lives
       F                  G                  Am                            G
We'll join in all the family fun and spread some yuletide cheer
       Am                   G                         Am
But it only seems five minutes since last Christmas

F
Tempus fugit so they say
C
Time goes faster every day
          F
Don't want to wish my life away
         C                      G                        C
'It only seems five minutes since last Christmas

Tins of chocolates congregate on supermarket shelves
Mince pies and Christmas puddings everywhere
Santa's in his grotto he's surrounded by his elves
But it only seems five minutes since last Christmas

Time again to get those Christmas decorations out
Check the lights are working on the tree
Go out and buy the turkey, don't forget those Brussels sprouts
But it only seems five minutes since last Christmas

Roy Wood and Noddy Holder singing on the radio
Ebenezer Scrooge is on TV
Christmas lights a flashing nearly everywhere we go
But it only seems five minutes since last Christmas

Hear those Christmas bells a ringing out throughout the land
Carol singing choirs everywhere
Feet tapping to the rhythm of the Sally Army Band
But it only seems five minutes since last Christmas

Dashing through the snow upon a one horse open sleigh
Turtle doves, French hens and leaping lords
Then thoughts turn to a baby in a manger far away
And a need to have our conscience clear for Christmas

See the downcast faces of the beggars on the street
Have they really been there all year long?
Thank your God, whoever he is, that you'll have food to eat
And spare a thought for those in need this Christmas
Yes spare a thought for those in need this Christmas
It's a long time on the street until next Christmas

Inspired when I turned on the TV in early September and saw The John Lewis Christmas Ad
