Interesting. I've never heard of gri-gri making it out of Africa before (where I grew up it's the term for a little charm or amulet or something that does something usually bad, like the theory in my gym class, when we had to run around the field and there was a spot where we all got cramps, and somebody said "Y'a un gri-gri la qui fait crever" (there's a charm here that kills us) - made perfect sense to me at the time! I thought there was another term for the Cajuns. Anyway, I have a friend from les parages, so I'll ask. He takes a while to get back to me, especially since his email is in my bollixed Outlook address book right now!
