Batten down your hatches to keep out approaching storms
Build up your barricades to stop the fight
Bite your bottom lip so that you won't offend the woke
And always stand for what you think is right

Maintain the right to speak your mind and state what you believe
But respect the other persons point of view
Think on, it's always wise if you try to compromise
Do to others as you'd have them do to you

A clear head is needed whenever confrontation comes
Keep your cool and try to stand your ground
Assertion not aggression is the order of the day
Your response should show a smile and not a frown

Left or Right or Blue or Red In matters of the vote
Respect the fact that others want their say
By all means tell them what you think but don't ram it down their throat
And if you can't agree then try to meet halfway

It's your right to speak out freely to say what you need to say
But take care so as not to cause offence
Because often when you blurt it can cause another hurt
And a "Sorry" doesn't always recompense

A discussion can get heated and turn into argument
This causes many a comradeship to end
Just because you're right it doesn't make the other wrong
So beg to differ and you can still remain good friends
