Thread Name: Tune Req: Two More Fiddle Tunes from Daniel Boone
Subject: Tune Req: Two More Fiddle Tunes from Daniel Boone
Season 6, episode 9 features four fiddle tunes. The middle two I know but the first and last ones are unfamiliar.

Here's what I got:

27:10-28:47: Fiddle tune I can't place but will try to identify. Part of it sounds like "Old Joe Clark" but isn't it.

29:02-30:22: "Soldier's Joy."

30:31-32:24: "Miss McLeod's Reel" or "Mrs. McLeod's Reel" (with various spellings of McLeod). This reel seems to be based on the old march and song "The Campbells Are Coming." "Mrs. MacLeod" was published in Niel Gow's Fifth Collection (1809). Gow said he had the tune from a Mr. McLeod of Raasay, who described it as "an original Isle of Skye reel." So far so good, but the fiddler ends with "Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits," which originated from a song written in 1899 by Charles Hale called "At a Darktown Cakewalk."

33:55-35:00: Another tune I can't place.
