There are plenty of social comment songs being written - you just need to know where to look and where to go to hear them. How about checking out your local library for folk clubs - they do still exist. Also suggest you go to your record store and seek out Robb Johnson - he's a prolific writer and has been for years - his most recent offering is a re-recording of songs written during the reign of the Thatcher government - a CD called 'Margaret Thatcher: My part in her downfall' Irregular Records IRR042 distribution by Proper Music - go ask for it NOW in your record store. There's also a song book available - contact Robb at irregular@moosemusic.co.uk - tell him Debbie said so!
