It doesn't matter if they're extreme left or extreme right, they're extremists. (That's the polite way to put it.) Most people draw a straight line, and map that to people's political affiliations; but it's not a straight line. The original line was circular, to the left and right of Louis XIV. When I explain this in person, I hold my index fingers together, then use them to draw two semicircles in the air .... and the hands meet again at the bottom.
