Subject: RE: Discussion: Rollin' Home (sea song)
There are two rarer songs to the tune of Oh Susannah that I found that were written in. One was a song called We keeping score of 1944, a song that was written in 1943 by Earl Robinson. The story goes that he had read a book on Steven Foster. Robinson met John Lomax when in 1943 he said to them I would like to record a protest song about second world war. Earl Robinso n is best known as the writer of I dreamed I saw Joe Hill and Black and White. His fame on songwriters like Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Thanks for what you have to say on the song Oh Susannah on this Mudcat thread and if any of you find more songs to the tune of this 1844 song I would like to know what they are called from Joe.
