Gregson Lane Folk Club has a cryptic connection with Stuart Marson. Ever since we started back in 1988 two of his compositions – “Close To The Wind” and “Over The Lancashire Hills” - have been performed many times by regulars and visitors alike, the reason being our close proximity to Kathleen Ferrier’s (Over The Lancashire Hills) house and memorial garden and the fact that one of our regulars (Keith Snape) attended Durham University along with Stuart way back last century in the seventies. Keith always took pride in performing a superb arrangement of his colleague's composition “Close to the Wind”.
