Thread Name: Origins: Pretty Nancy of Yarmouth?

I recognise that song. I learned it years ago from a “Young Tradition” LP I think. The first verse goes :-

Pretty Nancy from Yarmouth she’s my own heart’s delight
And a long and kind letter off to her I did write
All for to inform her what we had to undergo- oh
Ah sailing on the ocean where the stormy winds blow

I have never heard it sung anywhere else and, although I learned it way back in the 70s I don’t think I have ever sung it apart from in my own company.
It’s a great wee song.
