It wasn't that long ago that we discovered the electron. That one discovery opened up science applications that are too numerous to list.
I like the relativistic explanation of time, but I suspect there is a missing morsel yet to be discovered that would allow an external control of time to some unknown degree. I suspect it will not be the tachyon.
