Thread Name: ADD: When I Leave Old Glasgow Behind
Subject: ADD: When I Leave Old Glasgow Behind
This is the version I learned from my auld man, God rest him, and I'm 72 now.

WHEN I LEAVE OLD GLASGOW BEHIND

Well I'm leaving auld Glesca behind me and I'm saying ta ta cheerio
To all my young friends I said never, but Churchill he said I must go
So I'm sailing awa' doon the watter, I'm sailing far ower the brine
But I'm leaving ye something for auld Lang Syne when I leave ye auld Glesca behind

I'll leave ye Kelvingrove Park tae the winchers and Sauchiehall Street tae the clicks,
All the rid biddy drinkers can have George's Square and all the fly men can have micks
To the coolies I leave Paddy's market and the Barras as well I don't mind
For I'm leaving ye something for auld Lang Syne when I leave ye auld Glesca behind

I'll leave ye Celtic Park tae the Celtic, the Rangers* at Ibrox can dwell
I'll leave plenty of bookies to lift all your lines and I'll leave the noon record as well
Aye and I'll leave ye a pub on each corner, so all the young men can get blind
For I'm leaving you something for auld Lang Syne when I leave ye auld Glesca behind
