5 February 1918 SS Tuscania was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland; it was the first ship carrying American troops to Europe to be torpedoed and sunk. Survivors recalled that as the Tuscania was sinking the troops were lining up on the tilting decks singing “Where Do We Go From Here Boys“. It was a broadway song popular at the time.
