A longtime ago, I wrote this after spending weekend with many folks I loved, and afterwards realizing that I never told anyone how precious they were to me.

The words are in Muscat, listed under a different title, and the lyrics are not correct there.Here is what I wrote:

          THE RIGHT PHRASES

I have spent all my life writing words, reading pages,
talking and singing, my words without end
But with all of these words I've not found the right phrases
to say how I love you, my friend.

I have felt your hand holding mine, and your heart beating,
though you are far away and I'm alone.
And the love that we share grows between us each meeting;
Seeing you means being home.

There are times when the world seems to land on my shoulder,
when I'm tired, and everyone else needs a hand.
Then your smile gives me hope that my world will keep turning.;
you are my courage, my friend.


I started out singing it through, then repeating the first verse. A number of folks wanted a chorus, but nothing I wrote seemed to work. So I use the first verse as a chorus. I sing verse 1, verse 2, verse 1, verse 3, verse 1.
