I'm a local. Not that you can 'handle' a volcano, but it's being dealt with locally. We are even making sure we have N95 masks for our dogs. You know, muzzle capable!

We've had three 'dustings' by volcanos since I moved here. Spurr last 'blew' in '92.

The city is too far by a long ways for any similarity to Pompei or Herculaneu. These days a lot of folks may try to take their little planes up for sight seeing!

Not Spurr, but one of the volcanos laid down enough ash that someone asked me to send them a sample so they could try it out in their kiln. And I had to get on my roof and get hundreds of pounds of the stuff out of my rain gutters.
