When Donuel paraphrased the quote from Shakespeare's character Malvolio it reminded me of an author mentioned in one of the management subjects I studied at Uni, many years ago.

I've been racking my brain trying to remember the name: Malvolio, Mephistopheles, etc?

One of the lecturers seemed to like the Macchiavellian ideas. (She was not my favourite lecturer, BTW.) I've been thinking that Trump might be mirroring some of those ideas, but this quote from Section 6 of that summary page is worth noting:

"[His most well-known book] 'The Prince’ may have gained notoriety for its ruthlessness, but Machiavelli believed in a just government. As a civil servant, he had been one of the republic’s staunchest defenders.

"Although his treatise openly encouraged politicians to cheat, bribe, threaten and even kill if necessary, he acknowledged that without respect for justice, society would collapse into chaos."

So, one notable difference between The Prince and Trump!
