A side story about guitar picks:

My son wanted to learn guitar, so I told him I'd pay for lessons if he took classical lessons, because he'd learn a larger skill set. He progressed well, and after a few months I mentioned to his teacher that my son had an electric guitar. The teacher (recommended by a Mudcat friend years ago) was also a blues guy so they alternated classical and rock skills. And after a couple of years my son was able to participate in a master class with a visiting classical guitarist in town for performances.

My son was about 17 at the time, long long curly hair, looked exactly like a rock and blues performer, and was the youngest participant. During the class the instructor took time to discuss trimming their nails appropriately for playing, and described how well-trimmed nails work like a pick. In the room of about a dozen people, the instructor asked if anyone had a pick, and all eyes turned automatically to my teen-aged son. Who pulled one out of his pocket and handed it over. (I regularly fished them out of the bottom of the washer.)

Back to your discussion of high quality picks. He still plays, I should find out if he's wanting to try a new type. :)
