Subject: RE: Help: Blue Dog Cellar (Baltimore Coffee House)
Sorry I'm so late to this thread. I performed many times as part of an opening act, at both the old (22nd St) and new Blue Dog (York Road). My group was one of several groups that performed for the opening of the York Road location. George Stevens, owner of the Blue Dog, arranged to have that show broadcast live on a local radio station. While George was able to have mostly national traveling performers, I believe things were going well for the relocated and newly expanded Blue Dog until the Beatles hit the air-waves and the club had trouble surviving. The Folk Scare had come to a very quick demise, and with it went The Blue Dog. Timing is everything. After the closing of York Road, George went on to be a touring act on the Playboy Club circuit. The last time I saw him, he was the opening act for Miles Davis at The Cellar Door in Washington. Then, I believe he was both tour manager and opening act for Jim Croce.
