in 1987 i first heard this song by a review band cauled los lobos. i listened to the charts on raido 1 and did not beileved that this wood go to number one. i had just moved to edinburgh from glasgow. after that the royal blind scool discos kept playing this song and geting pepole to dance. i just listened to an episode on the song and now know that this songs history dates back to the 19th centurry well before lo tlobos and richie valens/ recordings that evreyone knows were hits.
