Like many, I learned it as
Ninety-Nine bottles of beer on the wall Ninety-Nine bottle of beer! You take one down pass it around Ninety-Eight bottles of beer on the wall (etc.)
But I did once hear it as
Ninety-Nine bottles of beer on the wall Ninety-Nine bottle of beer! If one of those bottles should happen to fall there'd be Ninety-Eight bottles of beer on the wall (etc.)
