Sorry, Helen, I don’t recall your post, but we’re clearly in agreement about the greater and greater resemblance of Trumpian Amerika to Margaret Attwood’s vision. I find the whole situation very scary indeed, and there seems to be little or no reportage here in the UK regarding the efforts of the Democrats (or even the saner element of the GOP) to bring Trump and his bunch of fellow sociopaths back into line.

A good friend of mine who lived for many years in South Africa summed it up very succinctly when he told me, “America is f**ked”. I think he had a point.
