Our little family band The Beat Greens opens every concert and local farmers' market gig with this song, preceded by channeling dove coos via a very old clay ocharina (in the form of a quetzal bird) gifted to me in 1989 by a woman named Renatta in Tepoztlan, Mexico.

I had been singing it "wont you tell it to me," but after listening more carefully to Bessie Jones's singing, we will definitely sing it "Don't you tell it to me-- just meet me at the door..." at the Farmers Market this Wednesday! May our folksongs and all our music-making, as Old Pete might say, "surround hate and force it to surrender"
