There was an article about Buckley in The New World (née New European) in the June 12th edition, entitled "One big beautiful Bill" ("Before Trump, there was William F Buckley Jr --- the reactionary showman who shaped our modern culture wars"). It ends:
Beginning a process that Trump was to perfect, he grasped completely that the best way to sell conservatism is through showbusiness and popular culture. [ ... ] But his greatest gift to the right, in the end, was to show that you could always "own the libs" by making the audience laugh.

In November 1967, Time magazine carried a picture of Buckley on its cover, with the line: "Conservatism can be Fun".
