Sometimes an all-solid wood acoustic's sound can improve without playing it.

Case in point: some years ago I bought a Gibson Hummingbird Modern Classic.
It didn't sound great, and I hung it on the wall. It hung there and a radio would be on most of each day.
All it did was 'listen' to that, and I took it down after maybe a month and it's tone had changed considerably.

On the other side of the coin, if you have an acoustic guitar but never play it or let it hear anything, it can go to sleep.
