I've been scanning old newspapers for years to find names of old fiddle tunes.

Relevant titles, places, and (earliest discovered) dates:

Rock the Cradle, Joe: recalled from 1850s, Virginia.

Rock the Cradle, Julie: recalled from 1860s, Georgia.

Rock the Cradle, Lucy: Massachusetts and North Carolina [!], 1842.


This info is inevitably fragmentary, and the newspapers didn't print tunes. Just FWIW.
