Thread Name: Lyr Req: June Tabor's 'Au logis de mon père'
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: June Tabor's 'Au logis de mon père'
Here is June's video.

While I'm at it, here it's what it means (literally -I'm no poet)

at my father's house
at the foot of Mont Quervaux*
there is a sweet, sweet, sweet apple tree
there is a sweet apple tree

and its leaves are green
at the foot of Mont Quervaux
and its fruits are sweet, sweet, sweet
and its fruits are sweet

there are three worthy girls
at the foot of Mont Quervaux
who are asleep underneath and underneath and underneath
who are asleep underneath

the youngest got up
at the foot of Mont Quervaux
she said: sister, it's daytime....
She said: sister, it's daytime

no, it is not daytime
at the foot of Mont Quervaux
It is the fire of the armies, armies, armies
It is the fire of the armies

these are our sweet lovers
at the foot of Mont Quervaux
who are fighting for us and us and us
who are fighting for us

*Google doesn't know this mount anywhere on the planet but there's a "Mont Clairvaux" in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
This song is based on a traditional French song known as "Vole, vole, mon cœur vole" or "Les trois princesses" or "Derrière chez mon père" (but we have different songs starting with "Derrière chez mon père"...). We have it on Mama Lisa's World (lyrics, English translation, sheet music, midi and recording by yours truly).
