Nigel, I wasn’t casting doubt on the content of the 2nd Amendment, I know full well what it says.

My point was, and still is, that the NRA and sundry assorted other gun-nuts frequently quote that part of the 2nd as their reason for objecting to stronger gun-control laws yet, at a time when the security of their ‘free state’ is seemingly being attacked by armed government agencies (at least, this is how it appears to many outside the US, and I’m one of those), there seems to be no effort being made by the NRA to enact that provision by organising a ‘well regulated Militia’ from amongst its members and others.
