Subject: Review: 'The Musicians' French film w/ subtitles
Glorious photography Rave reviews from the "Christian Science Monitor" and "Rodgers Movie Nation" (panned by id-jets).
Plot: A rich benefactor commissioned a clasical work for a quartet of four Stradivarius instruments. His daughter seeks to complete the vision. Gathered together at a country mason, egos clash. The reluctant composer is brought in...he has moved far beyond this old piece. The film is really about production and.it uses real muscians not actors. There is dry humor: Conductor - "We will start over at measure eleven. Violin: (aside) "Why eleven?" Chelo: "He doesn't play." And metaphor with the new conductor comparing musicians to.a flock of birds that turn and soar seemingly without cue.
