I bought a new HP laptop. It came with Windows 11 installed. Windows 11 is like lipstick, makeup, and high heels - form over function.

For instance, the scroll bars disappear until you wave the cursor over them. This is nifty and stylish, but it slows me down. I want to put the cursor there and move it, but I have to do this waving first to find them. They are narrow.

And I want the taskbar at the right. To me this makes the best use of my screen area. But somebody at corporate HQ decided Ye Shall Have It At The Bottom.

And Ye Shall Have Copilot "Helping" You.

And We Will Track Your Every Move.

The machine would not even BOOT UP unless I registered with Microsoft.

So I wiped Windows off it, and installed Linux.
